welcome to the beauty of norway

I arrived in Norway on Sunday as a total zombie. A bunch of sleep later, and I was feeling great again. Monday we were notified that our shipments from the US didn’t arrive yet, so we had to the day to ourselves. I went on a road trip with some colleagues - we started in Andenes where the rocket range is, traveled south along the coast, across to another island and finally to Sortland on the mainland of Norway. The drive was spectacular, as you will soon see. I bought my new camera (Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 with the 20mm f/1.7 pancake lens kit) just before I left the country, so these are among the first few shots I’ve taken with it. I’m going to present my photographs just as they were taken, without any editing. They’re not wonderful, but I’m now re-learning all the photography I’ve studied over my lifetime. I haven’t used a manual control camera in quite some time now. Hopefully we will see my photography get steadily better over the course of my stay here!

More to come! The camera is definitely keeping my interest. I did take a run out to this point today (the picture just above) - it was amazing. The sun is always on the verge of just rising or just setting though - it’s usually quite dark, like a constant twilight. Next challenge - photographing the aurora. I hear it’s incredibly tricky!
