Down with shampoo - Day 13

Today is awesome, that’s why I have to blog about it. Hair-wise I mean. The hair is adapting! It’s the coolest self-science-experiment I’ve ever done. So the hair oil (sebum) is making it’s way down the hair shaft (sound icky?) slowly but surely. The goal is to have all the hair coated with natural oil so that the scalp stops producing more oil. But until it gets to that point, the scalp will still over-produce. Which means grease ball on top, dry as hell at the ends. But that period is ending for me - yay!

Today I did a sea salt rinse scrubbed in like you would do with shampoo, massaging the roots and so forth. Then an apple cider vinegar rinse. The only trick is to rinse with water long enough to get the vinegar out. My hair feels lighter than ever since I started this ordeal. I’m getting excited! And here’s the big win: it’s got texture! When I was shampooing every day, it was limp and got overly dry at the same time. Gross. Now, it’s poofy, soft and acts like real hair! Who knew my hair could have body to it? Also, since my hair is so fine, I would have a hard time combing it out after washing. But that has all changed as well. It takes me literally 20 sec. to comb it when wet. Wow.

And it’s not just the shampoo you use. I was using the good stuff - all natural, solid shampoo bar, made with love, etc. Still it strips your hair of the oils it needs. Even old fashioned baking soda strips it. Down with shampoo! More updates to come…

Advantages: using the leftover shampoo to clean to toilets - works great!!

Possible disadvantages: apple cider vinegar in eye = ouch.

P.S. I’ve been using my Vibram barefoot shoes every day to work out my unused calf muscles so I’ll update about that process pretty soon too.
